(More customer reviews)A couple of the brackets came pre-rusted, but I used them anyway. The instructions are very minimal and don't state what size and type of material to buy to build the cabinets, only that the example used melamine. Since my cabinets would be strictly utility, I selected 1/2" plywood. The measurements provided for attaching the door hinges wouldn't work at all, and I wound up buying 1/4" plywood for the doors and setting the hinges by trial & error. The ten utility & ladder hooks weren't threaded far enough to use with 1/2" wood, so I had to extend the threads with my tap & die set (no way would they have worked with the 3/4" melamine available at Home Depot!).

Bottom line: Too much work for utility cabinets; I should have just bought some used kitchen cabinets and hung them on the garage wall. I need to get some additional brackets to support the center of the inside shelves lest they sag. NOTE: Plywood alone cost over $100 from Home Depot, that's in addition to the cost of the kit.

(More customer reviews)This bike rack has one major flaw.It arrives in three pieces: the 'wave' part and two feet.This is done to keep shipping prices down, but unfortunately makes the rack is relatively weak.The feet screw to the wave with a bolt that will snap off if someone leans on the rack.

If you want it to hold up to use in a public place, you will need to have the feet welded to the main piece after you receive it.

That being said, once you weld the rack, it will be plenty strong.I have installed about 20 of these racks around Atlanta, and once I figured out the welding issue, they have been holding up well.The finish will fade some in the sun, but not too much.

This shape of rack is one of the best for urban use.It provides a way to lock the frame of the bicycle, not just the wheel.You can get the same shape rack from other companies, but they'll probably be more expensive.

If you need a small number of affordable bike racks, this might be a good choice.Plan to visit a local welding shop to have a couple simple welds made that are necessary to make the rack strong.
